Air Monitoring

Personal Exposure Monitoring

The measurement of airborne contaminants in the workplace allows us to assess personal exposures and verify the effectiveness of control measures. Personal exposure monitoring is often required as part of a risk assessment made under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations and Control of Lead at Work (CLAW) Regulations.  Oak Environmental Solutions Limited have the ability to measure a wide range of hazardous substances in the workplace. Our sampling methods are based on approved methods including the UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE) MDHS series and those developed in the USA by NIOSH and OSHA. Our sampling strategy is normally based on the HSE Guidance Note HSG173 "Monitoring Strategies for Toxic Substances" (2006) and sample analysis is performed by UKAS accredited laboratory.

We provide interpretative reports in a clear and concise format. The exposure data is combined with observations made by an experienced occupational hygienist to provide a meaningful assessment of exposure.  Where appropriate, we will recommend practical solutions aimed at improving the control of airborne contaminants. Examples of hazardous substances which can be monitored include:

  • Gases such as ozone & carbon monoxide

  • Vapours such as isocyanates & benzene

  • Dusts such as flour & silica

  • Fumes such as rubber fume & welding fume

  • Metals such as lead & silver

  • Biological agents
